According to Deepak Raj, his son had witnessed the incident on the way home from school on January 6. One of the two involved in the incident had put a knife to his throat and threatened not to divulge the matter. “Your father and brother have gone to the hospital. They have threatened to kill them if they say anything,” he said after returning to meet his son. “That’s why he says he has confessed to the crime.” His youngest son Vinod is mentally retarded. A few days before the incident, his right arm was also broken. Deepak Raj used to come to Dadeldhura regularly for his treatment.

Recently, Deepak Raj has left the village and moved to Mahendranagar with his family. Her son called her from the Juvenile Correctional Institution on Friday to talk to her. He met his son in Silgadhi on Saturday and returned to Mahendranagar on Sunday. “Now that you have left the village, he can’t do anything. He started crying with me saying that he was telling the truth,” said Deepak Raj. According to him, Dinesh had said that in front of the security personnel of the correctional facility.
