KathmanduThe Government of India is providing 1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine under grant assistance to Nepal.

In a press conference jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Population and Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday, it was informed that the one million doses of the vaccine would arrive in Nepal with a few days.

Speaking at the conference, Minister for Health and Population Hridesh Tripathi informed that the Covid-19 vaccine would be given to health workers, security personnel, and employees deputed in the management of dead bodies and waste.

Stating that all the necessary legal and administrative procedures for procurement and use of the vaccine are complete, Minister Tripathi said the vaccination program would be initiated soon after the availability of the vaccine.

The Health Minister also informed that the ministry was effortful to procure the Covid-19 vaccine needed for 72 per cent of the population.

Also speaking on the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Binaya Mohan Kwatra stressed on the need for bilateral and multilateral cooperation among all the nations to battle the covid-19 pandemic.
