the new science block building of Mahendra Morang Multiple Campus,
Biratnagar was jointly inaugurated by Embassy of India in Kathmandu, District Coordination
Committee of Morang and Campus Management Committee through video-conferencing
facility. The building has been built with Government of India grant assistance of NR 4.43 cr
with DCC Morang as the implementing agency.


2. The project was taken up by the Embassy of India, as a High Impact Community

Development Project (HICDPs), earlier known as Small Development Project, under India-
Nepal bilateral initiation to support and strengthen grass-root infrastructure development

projects across Nepal. Projects under this initiative benefit the communities in the project area,
particularly in the areas of education, health, connectivity, drinking water and sanitation,
vocational training, medical campus, etc. Since 2003, India has completed 422 HICDPs,
covering 77 districts of Nepal with a financial grant of over NRs 798.7 cr

3. Established in 1955, the Campus is one of the largest affiliated campuses of Tribhuvan
University in Province-1. The newly built two storied Science Block Building has 17
classrooms, laboratories, stores and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls on each floor
and will benefit nearly 7000 undergraduate and doctoral students and faculty members of the
Campus.
4. Of the many who have passed out from the Campus, the most prominent is Hon’ble
Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal. Many others who studied at the campus have become
Dy PM, Ministers and technocrats.
5. Expressing his appreciation and satisfaction on the inauguration of the new Campus
building, Sh Babu Ram Timilsina, Campus Chief said that his ‘faculty, students and himself are
students of the world family and the assistance of Indian people is a reflection of what India and
Nepal believe in i.e. Vasudaivakutumbakam’.


6. The newly built infrastructure of the Campus is expected to boost learning environment
for students. On behalf of people and Government of India, the Embassy is happy to be
associated with the project which compliments the effort of Government of Nepal in augmenting
infrastructure in the field of education.
