Dhading, Feb 14: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has assured that the construction works of the Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project would be accelerated soon. Inaugurating the 7th Dhading Festival at Dhadingbesi on Friday, leader Dahal shared that the compensation was already distributed for the acquisition of private land lying in the project area, which would help intensify construction pace. The 1200-megawatt- hydro power project would bring a sweeping change in the lives of people in Dhanding and Gorkha districts, Dahal claimed, informing that discussion was also held concerning rehabilitation of those displaced by the hydel. According to him, the government was effortful to build a parallel highway in Trishuli and Marsyangdi as an alternative to the Prithivi Highway. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to construct railways connecting Lhasa in China to Kathmandu, Pokhara and Lumbini. The former Prime Minister was of view that Nepal would only inch towards realization of prosperity if the foreign investment was attracted to the country. He however expressed his happiness that the private sector in the country was very excited with the current situation of the country. There are altogether 155 stalls in the festival. Organizers are hopeful that the event would record a transaction worth Rs 50 million and witness a footfall of at least 200 thousand people. Local products such as handicrafts, daily consumable items and others have been put on the stalls. Different indigenous communities performed their cultural processions on the occasion.
