Kathmandu – Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun has said that there were immense potentialities for the construction of waterways in Koshi, Gandaki, Narayani and Karnali rivers.

In today’s meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee under the House of Representatives, Minister Pun said that the government would start construction of waterways in Koshi and Narayani rivers within the current fiscal year to establish easy connectivity to seas.

He further said that all the people across the nation would get electricity facility within next three years.

On the occasion, Secretary at the Energy Ministry, Anup Kumar Upadhyay, and Water Resources Secretary, Sanjay Sharma, briefed the Committee about the organizational structure of the Ministry, implementation condition of programmes approved for fiscal year 2018/19 and human resources management.

Committee members—Dal Bahadur Rana, Sitadevi Yadav, Raj Bahadur Shahi, among others drew government’s attention to bring Budhi Gandaki and West Seti hydropower projects into operation soon.  (RSS)
