Chitwan – Although a survivor of acid attack in Chitwan, underwent successful surgery at Bharatpur Hospital, she is still in critical condition.

Basanti Pariyar of Danda Bazaar at Kawasoti Municipality-16 of Chitwan district was attacked with acid by her neighbour, Bimal Shripali, on Monday morning evening while she was returning home from grocery. She was also stabbed by a sharp weapon.

Senior surgeon Dr Suresh Pradhan shared they performed four hours surgery on Pariyar whose intestine was visible outwardly after cutting the stomach.
Dr Pradhan further said that her rib was bruised. The 27-year-old Pariyar had also received critical wound on her cheeks and head. The team of doctors performed surgery on her stomach, chest, cheeks and head. Acid has burned her neck, chest and both hands.

Pariyar has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital. Police had immediately arrested the 37-year-old attacker.
According to the District Police Officer, Nawalpur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Leela Raj Lamicchane, acid attacker Sripali is escapist NA personnel.
According to the preliminary statement made by Shripali to the police, he attacked Pariyar with acid after his love interest Pariyar turned down his marriage proposal. Already a married man, he, admitted that he had returned home from foreign employment to tie knot with Pariyar, also a married woman.

Police said that wife of Shripali, who has been staying at her natal home, has filed a divorce case against him at the court citing his love affair with Pariyar as a reason. Shripali has a four-year-old child from his previous marriage while the acid attack survivor Pariyar has 11-year-old daughter.

The incident, according to the police, followed after the arrival of Pariyar’s husband, also a foreign employment returnee, who attempted to break up her spouse’s affair with Shripali.   (RSS)
