Terhathum – Jailbirds are reeling under troubled life as the district prison is overcrowded with three-fold than its original capacity.

The district jail has the capacity to accommodate 25 inmates but is now managing 88. As a result, the inmates are facing inadequacy of drinking water and spaces for toilet besides trouble in preparing meal.
Prison In-Charge Umesh Ghimire shared that 83 men and five women have been languished in the jail. :Overcrowding of prisoners has challenged them to manage the jail”, he added.

Though the concerned authorities were frequently informed of the status, no measure has been taken so far to resolve the problems facing the prison, he said.

Jailbirds are having very uncomfortable living in the decrepit and congested jail. (RSS)
