Baitadi –  With the safe shelter home in operation in Patan, women surviving gender-based violence in the district are feeling a sigh of relief.

As of now 74 women facing different forms of violence have received services from the safe shelter home that has been in operation for the past 20 months, informed UNFPA district programme officer, Ganesh Shahi.
She added the shelter home has made it easier for the victims to counter violence against women.
“The violence survivor women have also been provided with consultation in the shelter”, she shared.
Women surviving different incidents of violence including domestic violence, child marriage, polygamy and gender-based violence throng the shelter home seeking support and justice.

The shelter has been brought into operation to provide support to the women facing violence, said Coordinator of Shelter Home Operation Committee, Janaki Awasthi.
The shelter home has been providing food and accommodation to violence survivor women for 35 days as well as legal aid free of cost. (RSS)
