Inaruwa, July 19: Radha Saha of Duhabi municipality-6 in Sunsari district has been a victim of domestic violence allegedly for giving birth to a daughter.
Saha narrated about the abuse she had to face at the hands of her husband and her father and mother in-law for two years, organising a press conference in Itahari. She said she was expelled from the house and is currently living with her parents.
She got married to 24-year-old Gopal Saha of Pipraha, Ramdhuni municipality-3 three years ago when she was 20.
Saha said her husband used to beat her after she gave birth to a daughter after their marriage. She was ultimately expelled from the house and started living with her mother in Duhabi for two years now.
More, Saha said her husband has demanded one million rupees if she wanted to come back to him.
She said she was compelled to organise a news conference to make her plight public through the media as the bodies concerned did not show any concern to give her justice. Saha had also brought her two-year-old daughter with her to the press conference.
She complained that although she had filed an application with the judicial committee of the Duhabi municipality seeking justice, the municipality did not hear her pleas.
Saha said that she wanted to live with her husband at his house but that he has been demanding one million rupees and pressing her for that from time to time if she wanted to live with him.
