Kathmandu, July 9: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has accused the main opposition party of launching protests on a shaky ground.
There have been several ill-efforts to overshadow the pro-public works being carried out by the government, Oli said while addressing a meeting of the parliamentary party of the his party, the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) here today.
“People gave a majority to the left alliance which now has turned into a single party”, he said, adding that the party would implement the agendas raised during the elections through the government’s policy and programmes.
He urged the lawmakers to emphatically put their opinions on the issues including Medical Education Bill. “We have not done anything wrong. The issue should be raised in the parliament without hesitation”.
Hinting at the opposition party, he warned the Nepali Congress to hold discussion on any issues in the parliament. “The laws are to be framed by the parliament not outside”.
The Prime Minister said that it was not practical to prevent the establishment of medical college for 10 years in Kathmandu and limit a university to issue affiliation to only five colleges. “Let us grant constituency to the colleges by taking stock of the need of number of colleges in different subjects”.
The medical education bill tabled at the parliament was as per the government’s policy, he added.
The Prime Minister also made it clear that the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University was barred from going abroad for not taking approval for the same. There have been several complaints about the VC of the Sanskrit University and the recent rumour would not stop fair investigation into the complaints, he further said.
The political appointments made after the enforcement of electoral code of conduct have been evoked and it was done to establish a due system, the PM added.
Also present on the occasion were CPN Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and leader Jhalanath Khanal.
