Lalitpur, July 2: Only 14 percent quake survivors in Lalitpur district have received third installment of relief assistance after they completely reconstructed their houses.
According to the district unit of reconstruction project, a total of 3,363 locals have so far accessed the third installments from governmental and nongovernmental bodies as per the contract.
Information system management expert at the unit Rakesh Maharjan said the number of the service receivers was gradually decreasing from the first installment to second and second to third. The unit further shared that though they had expected completion of fifty percent houses in this fiscal year, the result was not as anticipated.
Only 98 percent quake survivors received first installment while 28 percent have so far received second installment in the district. Maharjan added that the lengthy process of house map approval and shortage of workers have delayed the house construction process.
Similarly, some quake survivors who don’t have their own land registration certificates have been barred from receiving the relief assistance. Most of the service recipients are out of contact after receiving the first installment, the unit sources said.
It is stated that the ratio of house reconstruction was higher in rural areas in comparison to the urban areas.
Only 290 out of 5,179 quake survivors have so far rebuilt their house after receiving grants from the then Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City.
According to the government data, there are 27,718 quake survivors in the district.
