The government had decided to promote 100 places as new tourist destinations from the coming fiscal year.
Planned programmes would be formulated and implemented for tourism promotion also in view of the decision to mark 2020 as the Visit Nepal Year.


Responding to queries raised over the appropriation bill related to his Ministry at parliament today, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, said every province will have at least 10 new tourist destinations. He further shared government plans to expedite the reconstruction of quake-damaged heritage sites, promotion of home stay and religious sites, and tourism publicity in the neighbouring countries India and China.
In order to reduce the pressure on the only International Airport and ensure quality service, the airport was open for 21 hours from May 21, according to him.
As per the Minister, the construction of Pokhara regional international airport could complete in three years; construction of Nijgadh International Airport of Bara would be expedited and Gautam Buddha Airport which is under construction would complete in a year.
Programme would be launched in a planned manner to promote tourism in Rara and Khaptada area. Under the Ministry, five national pride projects would given top priority and budget allocated accordingly.
Plan was afoot to construct a major airport in every province keeping in mind its relevance to boosting tourism.
Direct Flight from Nepalgunj-New Delhi
Minister Adhikari informed that direct flight service would operate from Nepalgung to New Delhi after three months. Efforts were on to establish flight routes to different cities of China as well.
