The Government of Nepal on Tuesday has termed a recent statement made by Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, during her annual press conference ‘unfortunate’.
The government drew its attention to the statement given with reference to the public participation at the Civic Felicitation programme held in honour of the Prime Minister of India in Janakpur on 11 May 2018.
It has come to the notice of the Government of Nepal that she has publicly admitted her mistake and apologized for the same, stated MOFA Spokesperson’s response to queries regarding the statement by Minister of External Affairs of India.

The government sincerely thanks all those who raised concerns over this issue, the response statement reads.
The response note also stated that social cohesion and harmony characterize the Nepali way of life that is reflective of national unity among people living in all regions, which should be respected by all.
